On this page we hope to teach you what a Desert Biome is, a Desert Biomes characteristics, it's location, Variations and how this biome can be changed and used by humans.
Firstly there are three types of Deserts there are, semi arid deserts, hot and dry deserts and coastal deserts. Deserts can generally have varying from 49c to -89.2(recorded in Antarctica which is the largest and driest desert on earth), the soil quality in these areas are quite low and often lack moisture. also these Biomes are some of the least livable in the world.
The three different types of Desert Biomes are semi arid, hot and dry and coastal. In semi arid Deserts the temperature is a lot more mild and out of all of the deserts these are the most livable (still not that livable), also there is more rain fall in these Deserts. Hot and dry are the usual deserts that i am sure most of you think of when we say the word desert these deserts are full of sand and can have extremely uncomfortable temperatures, they are not very livable. Lastly Coastal Deserts look like a beach extended, these biomes are where the desert meets the ocean (they are quite beautiful).
To sum up, these biomes are/have:
- Usually Hot
- Least livable
- poor soil nutrients
-semi arid deserts are the type that make up most of Australia's deserts.
